The invention of the first camera phone definitely
created many opportunities for users to have an improved experience. There were
a couple lead up events to the first camera phone that I would like to address
the importance and hardships of the creation of the phone. In 1993, Daniel A.
Henderson created two prototypes of a "wireless picture phone technology" that he called the Intellect. It was a portable product designed to receive and display images and
video wirelessly, and they were displayed in the Smithsonian’s National
Museum of American History. In 1997, Phillipe Kahn made the first working
camera phone while his wife was giving birth. He used his cell phone, camera,
and laptop in order to create the device. He was then able to instantly send
the photos to all of his friends and family on the spot. The first camera phone
was the Kyocera Visual Phone VP-210 made in Japan in May 1999. It was a 110,000
pixel front facing camera that was called a mobile video phone at first. The
creation of the camera phone allowed people to have more convince regarding shooting
photos. It takes the hard parts and annoyances of having a real camera, and
simplifies them into one singular device.
